Today i had to query M$ SQL DB with Domain Authentication .
Since i use a mac there’s no native client available. SquirrelSQL does the job:
List of Ingredients:
- Squirrel SQL
Download latest version of squirrel SQL client
- jTDS jdbc driver
Download latest version of jtds – a LGPLed type 4 jdbc driver for MSSQL and Sybase
First download and install squirrel sql.
Download and extract jTDS. I downloaded the latest version (jtds-1.3.1-dist.zip) and extracted it. The resulting folder jtds-1.3.1-dist contains – among other stuff – the driver we’re looking for: jtds-1.3.1.jar.
We need to tell squirrell where to find the driver jar.The easiest way is click on the drivers tab on the left hand side. The list shown there lists all db systems known to squirrell. Search for jTDs – you’ll find 3 entries: iTDS, iTDS Microsoft SQL and jTDS Sybase. Doubleclick jTDS Microsoft SQL. Switch to the “Extra Class Path” tab and click “Add”. Locate the jtds-1.3.1.jar file on your hard disk and click OK.
The window section on the bottom should show a positive message.
Switch to the Aliases tab and click the plus symbol.
Give a name to alias and select jTDS Microsoft from the dropdown list.
For me the url had to be like this:
jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://192.168.100.106:1433;databaseName=<dbname>;domain=<windows domain name>
Username and password contain windows user name and pasword.
Click “Test” and “Connect” to verify the settings are correct
